Audio post overview

Experiment 1

  • Experiment 1a

    • Collaborator: Scarlet Z.

    • N = 32

    • Cross-listed as 02-E4. Subjects studied 10 items from 12 semantic categories (the same used in Roediger & DeSoto, 2014 ). Items were presented over headphones. After a five minute distractor task, subjects took a recognition test over 360 items: 120 targets, 120 related lures (new items from studied categories), and 120 unrelated lures (new items from new categories). After "old" recognition decisions subjects made remember/know/guess judgments.

  • Experiment 1b

    • Collaborators

    • Meghan M.

    • Allison O.

    • N = 32

    • Identical to 15-1a, except items were presented on the screen instead of over headphones.

Experiment 2

  • Collaborators:

    • Meghan M.

    • Allison O.

    • Marie B.

  • N = 64

  • Similar to 15-E1a and 15-E1b, subjects studied 10 items from 10 semantic categories (presented visually). After a distractor task subjects took a similar recognition test over 300 items. Subjects made confidence ratings on a 0-100 scale after every recognition decision and made remember/know/guess judgments after the confidence rating assigned to every "old" recognition decision.
